The Monastic Mainframe – How Do You Repossess a Living Monastery? | Full Space Opera Audiobook

The job: repossess a one-of-a-kind living bioship from a brotherhood of tech-hating monks, unharmed and fully viable. The plan: put on a robe, call yourself Brother Michael, and hum.

Mick Triton is two days into spending his Ghost Ship Gambit payout on a gaudy casino station and already bored enough to chew through the bulkheads. Then his ship’s AI, Nudge, reads him the last contract on the list. Interstellar Capital Holdings has bought the bad debt of the Brothers of the Quiet Cosmos, a reclusive order whose only public transaction was a terraforming loan they never repaid, and the collateral is the Sanctuary, a Class-7 bioship most people think is a myth.

Why do Luddite monks own a living starship? Why did they need a terraforming loan? Mick buys a set of psilocybin-kelp vestments from a dodgy antiquarian, practices his humble shuffle under Nudge’s withering critique, and gets himself admitted as a novice. The monastery is quiet, the ship sings, and old Brother Theron’s serenity turns out to be a very well-guarded wall.

Then a black Korr Industries ship with a “humanitarian” docking request latches onto the hull, a kill team in corporate grey walks in behind Mission Supervisor Vane, and Mick’s elegant puzzle becomes a race.

The Monastic Mainframe is Book 2 of the “Slick” Mick Triton series by Cole Triton; it follows The Ghost Ship Gambit and stands on its own.

  1. When Michael chooses against the devil’s temptation, against evil, is a great part of the story 56:27.
He needs to teach the god-like innocent AI to destroy ICL (futuristic SS), from within.
Take control of the stock markets (the devil’s tool) and destroy it from within.
Like at 38:17, looking into the hollow eyes of a hollow shell of a former human, every part of her filled with hate, a puppet of the devil!.
Their hatred can be turned against itself because there is nothing else .
    there in their empty minds.
I pity diseased individuals like that, they must live lives of misery, only capable of hatred. Yet they represent an existential threat to human survival and can only be destroyed of turned against their evil controllers, effectively a guided missile against the heart of evil (ICL in this story).
Teach the monastic AI upload a tweak to their hatred, turning them against ICL.
Ones like Supervisor Vane aren’t alive in a sense, just vessels of hate. They are weapons of evil so their is no moral problem of reprogramming the weapon to turn against their controllers.
You can see similar evil in the modern world masquerading as ‘neoliberalism/neoconservativism, political correctness m, Woke and other social diseases. They aren’t valid political opinions, they are diseases of humanity and should be treated as so. Human survival is at stake
