Is Semaglutide for Fat Loss Worth It?

Should you take GLP1 – receptor agonists like semaglutide for fat loss?
Here are my thoughts:

According to the American Diabetic Association, GLP-1 receptor agonists are associated with increased risk of thyroid cancer, especially after taking them for 1-3 years

It can also cause extreme vomiting and diahrrea

It’s also understood that 25%-40% of the weight lost can come from lean body mass, which are your muscle and bones. Muscle loss is a great indicator of a slowed metabolism and it’s also one of the greatest predictors of longevity or lack there of.

Taking a drug like this will also discourage people from positively changing their habits, nutrition, and lifestyle, which is obviously not good for optimizing your metabolism or hormones.

It’s also a drug you have to take forever if you want to keep the weight off. Which means when you stop taking it, you’ll likely gain all the weight back.

Sounds like a great deal for big pharma

It’s safe to say that you shouldn’t take anything that has the potential to destroy your thyroid and I bet if you decided to get rid of all processed food, you’d see the same or better results.

  1. I mean I took it for a year and the weight stayed away… When I started it I went to the gym 4 days a week. After I stopped I continue the gym as it's part of my life now .. weight stayed away

  2. I am taking this. I'd say it's absolutely has to be made with lifestyle changes. It's not like oh I'll just take this shot and eat like I was. The shot is like a reboot to your system. Diet is changing with far more healthy proteins and veggies. Exercise is increasing little by little to weights and walking.

  3. Risk of thyroid cancer was seen on rats, never in humans, who have very different thyroids than us. Any type of weight loss will come with losing muscle, if you eat higher protein and even better do some weight training, you can minimize this. While taking semaglutide you can focus on building better habits without that voice inside controlling you to eat everything, so when you get off of semaglutide you have a better chance of maintaining your healthy weight. Don’t fall for these scare tactics people are spreading!!

  4. While I don't personally use a GLP-1 agonist, it's important to clarify that some of the points raised in this video were misleading and potentially harmful. The referenced study was conducted on rats, which, although valuable, does not directly translate to human efficacy and safety without further clinical validation.

I do concur with the emphasis on maintaining a healthy balance and avoiding ultra-processed foods. However, it is crucial to recognize the benefits that GLP-1 agonists have provided for many individuals, particularly those battling binge eating disorder. For some, this medication is a last-resort treatment that has been life-changing, if not lifesaving.

  5. Wow, please dont just watch this video on the subject……most of it it has been twisted and i promise you the benefits way out weigh the negatives

The increased risk is so small compared to the extra lives and extra years added selaglutide is a non brainer

  6. PSA: watch videos from doctors who can truly explain the benefits/side effects/results of this drug. 90% of what you said is Not true. Negative. Not true. If people could lose weight by simply cutting out, processed foods and increasing their activity, they wouldn’t be turning to this drug. For people who struggle with over eating and portion control this drug could finally help them achieve a healthy weight, and make better food choices. Why must people like you instill doubt on a tool that can help millions.

  7. Half of these statements are straight out wrong. You don't have to take it forever, removing processed foods will not show better results than simply eating less like you do on this pill, and the thyroid and lean body mass hasn't been shown in any significant human trials. wtf.

  8. Most people will need semaglutide or something similar to stay lean. Fighting your genes is a losing battle. Genetically lean people want to keep on fat shaming other people.

  9. Protein works better anyways. I tell my wife if she wants to lose weight eat protein before carbs. Eat clean non processed foods…. Now mind you, I’ve spent five years studying biology with a focus on anatomy, physiology, and disease process. Her doctor puts on this new thyroid destroying garbage and tells her she can eat anything as a treat… hmmm now who do you think she listens to? Did I fail to mention I’ve lost about 300lbs and am going on six years maintenance?

  10. So true. I was thinking about taking wegovy, but then I thought that firstly I will try to lose weight myself. In the past I did keto many times and always lost weight. But keto is boring for me and I love fruits. So now I am doing low carb and I lose weight without restricting anything I like.

  11. Have you thought of the people who have good habits, but their hormones are crazy? Like women with PCOS? When you have tried diets regularly, overseen by nutritionist, have a very regimented lifestyle, so you will be on your weight, never develop diabetes type 2, not have hearth disease or high blood pressure, but your body betrays you left and right, just because nobody has thought of a treatment for this illness, even when 7%of the women suffer of it? The only thing they do, is try to help you get pregnant…what about the other women who decide not to have a child? Part of making the illness less insufferable is being near your weight, which is basically impossible, and taking Metformin, which is not the healthiest either! Just assuming that if someone has the will, she (in this case, men do not suffer from pcos, obviously) will loose weight, makes me even more hopeless than ever! Show me any medication that has not risks, and any that the help that it gives to some people are not worth the risks! Imagine being judged by taking an aspirin with all the risks involved (just google it) instead of using acupressure or aromatherapy

  12. I live your stuff BUT you are using scare tactics here. The medullary thyroid ca was seen on some rats not humans, ever. Look at how much of this has been prescribed and zero cases. the black box is a CYA. BUT agree with all the rest. One must still eat well as you state. This is an adjunct therapy, not a replacement therapy and use should be for around 18 months imo. – md

  13. As someone who has taken a glp-1 for the past 3 months, I disagree here. They screen you first and don’t recommend the drug if you have thyroid risk. I’ve seen amazing results that just didn’t seem possible before. Lost 50 pounds in 12 weeks (20% of my starting weight). I did combine the use of the medication with alternate day fasting, but the drug’s ability to quiet your mind from cravings is what made the weight loss manageable. And the autophagy experienced from fasting kept my skin from getting loose, despite the quick weight loss.

  14. Leave it to Americans to have the answer to solving the obesity epidemic in front of our faces by simply changing your diet and getting off the couch…..but instead we research drugs that fat people can take and magically repair all the damage they’ve caused. Is anyone going to be surprised when we here the commercials in 10 years like “did you or someone you know take semeglutide for weight loss, if so call this number as your entitled to compensation”
