DATA:

In this video, Dr. Berg talks about consuming diet soda in a ketogenic diet. Diet coke, coke zero and coke zero sugar have the same ingredients except for other sweeteners. It has aspartame which affects the gut, increase the risk for insulin resistance and diabetes. It also has caramel coloring where they heat sugar with an ammonia compound to produce an end product called AGE or Advanced Glycation Endproducts, which creates sticky proteins in the body.

  1. Great, informative video! My rule is I always drink carbonated water like Pelegrino, Saratoga or Lacroix daily. I only drink Coke Zero twice a year in moderation. Once on 4th of July with hot dogs/hamburgers and once in November for Thanksgiving. 🙂 That's it! No exceptions. I eliminated soda from diet 99% of the time about 15 years ago give or take.

  2. Guys. I lost a lot of weight on keto. But still drank a whole lot of Coke Zero/pepsi max. Couldn’t get a handle on my blood pressure and ended up having 6 strokes. Now I’m starting keto again. Properly. I should have listened to Dr Berg. He was right.

  3. You are right about the sugar combining with the hemoglobin. However, there is a fundamental flaw in your reasoning, and that is the fact that the caramel coloring from the diet coke goes into your stomach first, not straight into the bloodstream. And the stomach is pretty good at breaking down stuff, even metals.

  4. So you never really answered the question you just said diet soda is bad for you but the REAL question is if you are on a keto diet will it stop or stall your ketosis. All things in moderation right? I don't want to drink a six pack a day but I like certain sodas occassionally and I'm more concerned about the weight loss than the ingrediants in the soda.

  5. I'm on a keto diet and diet coke and zero sugar sprite is the only thing which is keeping me intact till now. Sorry I can't quit them.
It's still better than having a cheesy burger or caramel cake

  6. I can do keto with diet coke, I cannot do any diet with out it. I am addicted. I still lose weight on keto drinking it daily, I know its not good for me but its better than me falling off my diet. I have been drinking diet coke since I was in 5th grade, I will never be free!

  7. Milk will get your teeth back to normal. For tooth paste you should be using the red Colgate….if you use the expensive ones thats just going to agravate the teeth because they mix all kinds of crazy things . Colgate keeps it simple.

  8. Aspartame dont have solid study that it is carcinogenic I that's why they pit it in possible carcinogenic and there's a lot of test that coke zero doesn't spike blood sugar level and you don't will not drink a lot of coke zero any way if your in a diet.

  9. The coke 0 I’ve been drinking is sweetened with stevia. What are Dr. Bergs thoughts on this?
Guess I really need to think about the Carmel coloring. That doesn’t sound good.

  10. i drank sugar free energy drinks and some soda during my keto diet, i dieted for 8 months from 95kg to 72kg, it didn't slow me down. but i drank about the same amount as before my diet too. quickly gained back the weight after my keto diet ended though, so the diet is definitely a lifestyle rather than just a diet.

  11. All that matters is how it affects blood glucose and insulin and blood ketone levels.
Plenty of videos on yt from those wearing continuous glucose monitors and urine ketone tests demonstrating no glucose spike, no insulin spike, no reduction in ketones if already in ketosis.
Only negatives might be the artificial sweeteners used, though I have never seen reliable data indicating any long term health effects from them.
Very high consumption may damage tooth enamel from the acid in the sida, diet or not.

  12. Are there particular sodas that you have found that you mentioned have the ingredients that are better to drink than the ones you talked about? If so, can you provide the brand or names of those sodas? I'm sure many would like to know. Perhaps a video of those would be nice to see.
